The standing bath, filled with the facility's own source, Himorogi no Yu, reaches waist depth. Rather than sitting down to submerge your shoulders, you stand and let the spring water envelop you. The heat-retention of the chloride spring combines with the smooth texture of the bicarbonate spring, leaving warmth in your core even after getting out. The open-air area features a rock bath filled with spring water and a jar bath made of Shigaraki ware for solo use, while the indoor bath offers a seasonal bath. On the day of our visit, we slowly warmed up while gazing from the indoor bath out over the garden-like open-air area. A sauna is also available.

Despite being located in urban Higashiosaka, this facility uses sodium bicarbonate spring water drawn from 1,000 meters underground in every single one of its baths. The indoor bath area is divided into two systems: a deeper, hotter bath and a milder bath you can soak in for longer, letting you choose the temperature that suits how you feel that day. The water has a smooth texture, and the moment you step in, you can feel the tension release from your body. The open-air bath is touted for its beautifying effects on skin, leaving your skin soft after bathing. A sauna is also available, but the true heart of this facility lies in how it uses its source water — even the cold plunge bath is filled with onsen water.

Stepping into the open-air area, the first thing that catches your eye is the sheer size of the rock bath. Keeping an area this large filled with natural hot spring water requires an enormous volume of water. The sodium chloride spring, pumped up from deep underground, contains iron and salt that give it a brownish tint. Sinking in up to your shoulders while looking up at the blue sky, you can feel the core of your body warming quickly. Salt-rich onsen water tends to keep you warm long after you get out. The indoor bath area also features artificial carbonated baths, jet baths, and the Matsuri no Yu, which changes color with the seasons. Saunas are available for both men and women.

The onsen water, welling up from ancient strata deep underground, is rich in salt. The salt left on the skin suppresses sweat evaporation, giving it strong heat-retention properties, earning it the nickname Netsu no Yu (Bath of Heat). This source water flows straight into the open-air rock bath. Soaking in the evening, with the sky turning red and surrounded by greenery and wind, you can forget you're in the middle of Osaka City. This is a large facility with a sauna and rock-bed bath as well, but few places in the city let this concentration of onsen water flow so freely. Start with the open-air rock bath.

On the third floor of a hotel along the Ajikawa River, close to a theme park, there's a bath filled with natural onsen water pumped from roughly 1,000 meters underground. The large communal bath is enveloped in cave- and wood-like design, dim and quiet. Stepping out to the open-air bath, the view opens up and river breezes brush your skin. Few places in the middle of a city let you feel the vastness of the sky like this. The women's bath features Sanshin no Yu, with a maximum depth of 1 meter, along with a carbonated bath, while the men's bath has a foot-pressure-point corner, giving each side a different layout. A sauna is also available. Day-use visits without an overnight stay are welcome.

A natural onsen containing sodium bicarbonate and salt wells up from deep underground beneath Grand Green Osaka, directly connected to Osaka Station. Sodium bicarbonate helps slough off old skin cells for smoother skin, while the salt warms the body from the core and keeps that post-bath warmth lasting longer. Alongside this onsen, the large communal bath also features a high-concentration carbonated bath that promotes blood circulation, a Deep Spa with strong jets to loosen muscles, and a bath that changes according to the 24 seasonal divisions of the traditional calendar. Outdoors, there's a heated infinity pool overlooking the city's greenery and skyline. A private bath with its own sauna is also available. Right in the heart of the city, you can soak in onsen water drawn from deep underground.

The upper level of the rock bath is filled with a radioactive sodium chloride spring containing natural radon, a rarity even in the Kansai region. The spring water is delivered straight from the source, allowing you to absorb its minerals not just through soaking but through breathing as well, warming your body gently from the core. Because salt coats the skin, the heat lingers even after you get out. Directly in front of you spreads the greenery of Hattori Ryokuchi Park, and you can sink into the bath while listening to the sound of the wind. On the day of our visit, the greenery stretched on endlessly beyond this rock bath. Three types of sauna are also available.

In a spacious open-air area designed to evoke a rural mountain village, the facility's own source, Himorogi no Yu, flows freely. The most popular bath is filled directly with spring water at around 28.9°C, straight from underground. Sinking in up to your shoulders in water cooler than body temperature, you'll find a heated rock bath and a seasonal bath nearby at a more comfortable temperature. There's also a jar bath made of Shigaraki ware for solo use, and a reclining bath for gazing up at the sky, letting you move between baths of different temperatures. This weakly alkaline simple onsen is colorless and transparent, with a faint mineral scent and a soft texture on the skin. On the morning our editorial team visited, the sky was cloudless, and we gazed up at the blue sky while soaking in the spring water. A sauna is also available.

The 4th-floor Europe Zone and 6th-floor Asia Zone, recreating bathing cultures from more than 12 countries around the world, swap between men and women each month. Stepping into the large communal bath, you're immediately struck by its scale. Deep within the Asia Zone, in an open-air area modeled after a mountain stream, sits Yamazato no Yu Tsubo-yu. With a pale yellow hue and a faint scent of sulfur, this simple onsen water fills a single-person jar without circulation, and sinking in up to your shoulders separates you from the bustle outside. The same building also houses a tea-room-style corner scented with hojicha and a cave bath lit in pale blue light. A sauna is also available.

Despite being a day-use onsen within Osaka City, this facility channels weakly alkaline natural onsen water from deep underground straight into a Shigaraki-ware jar. The jar is large enough for one person to enjoy in solitude, set within a forest jar bath surrounded by trees that change with the seasons. Nearby are a gentle rock bath, a pure white and dense Kinu no Yu (Silk Bath), and an ultra-high-concentration carbonated bath. On the other side, the Bamboo Grove Bath is arranged like a pavilion surrounded by moso bamboo, with the bamboo trunks illuminated at night. Men's and women's sides alternate weekly, so you'll need to visit twice to experience both. A sauna is also available.
