About Hakusan-yu Takatsuji Branch

Hakusanyu Takatsuji is a public bath located in Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture. Its main attractions are the ultra-high temperature dry sauna and the cold plunge bath fed by natural underground water. The natural famous water cascading like a waterfall from a lion's mouth has a soft touch and quickly cools down the body heated in the sauna. The facility also offers an open-air bath and an outdoor relaxation space, along with a variety of baths such as herbal baths and electric baths. At an impressive cost performance of 550 yen for adults including sauna access, it is loved by both tourists and local sauna enthusiasts as a representative public bath sauna in Kyoto.

Men's

The heat emitted from the stone-type stove is sharp and warms the entire body quickly. A television is installed, and sauna mats of the kickboard type are also provided. The room is high temperature with low humidity, allowing for a thorough sweat. Sitting near the entrance provides a moderate temperature, while the heat intensifies as you move further in. With a genuine high-temperature setting that doesn't feel like a public bath sauna, you can experience a solid sweat session.

Men's

The deep cold plunge bath, with a depth of 80 to 110 cm, uses natural underground water in a continuous flow. Its most notable feature is the two lion mouths from which water cascades like a waterfall. This natural famous water has an extremely soft touch and feels pleasantly cold beyond its actual temperature. Due to its depth, immersing up to the shoulders ensures a thorough cooling of the entire body.

Most of what we surveyed never even made it onto this site. This book is a further cut from what did. Our editor bathed in every onsen and sauna in it, and wrote only what they confirmed on the ground.
