Dry Sauna and Steam Sauna

Dry Sauna and Steam Sauna

This area features two types of sauna: a spacious dry sauna with a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean through large fully glass-walled windows, and a steam sauna where rich, gentle steam softly envelops the entire body. In the dry sauna, far-infrared heat gradually penetrates deep into the body, allowing you to work up a pleasant sweat while gazing at the blue sea and sky. The steam sauna is easier to breathe in and leads you into deep relaxation with plenty of moisture. In this extraordinary space where two different kinds of heat meet amid spectacular scenery, you can forget the noise of everyday life and enjoy a special sauna experience that feels like washing away accumulated fatigue with the sound of the waves.

Editors' comment

The sauna room is fully glass-walled, so the Pacific Ocean fills the entire view even while seated. The dry sauna uses far-infrared heat that slowly reaches deep into the body, letting guests sweat while gazing at the blue of sea and sky. The other room is filled with steam, wrapping guests in humidity while keeping breathing easy. The cold plunge bath sits right next to the sauna, with fresh water constantly flowing in and overflowing. Guests step straight in with sweaty feet, then move on to outdoor relaxation where sea breezes pass through. The defining feature here is that heat, water, and outdoor air all face toward the sea.

Herbal Sauna

Herbal Sauna

An authentic herbal sauna using medicinal herbs imported from Korea. The usual temperature is a modest 62°C, but when the high-humidity environment overlaps with fever time, the perceived temperature suddenly jumps, delivering an intense experience close to a heat wave. The room is filled with a distinctive herbal aroma, and the Korean medicinal ingredients such as 当帰, 川芎, and 薄荷 work together with the heat to act on the entire body. Because the floor gets hot, caution is needed at your feet.

Finnish Sauna

The Finnish Sauna, a symbol of the sacred site of sauna, is characterized by its 110°C dry, intense heat created by METOS KERKES ceramic stones. In this Showa-style strong setup, there is no pouring water and no löyly service at all, so you simply expose yourself to the high-temperature heat and encourage deep sweating. With TV audio playing in the background, the simple experience of quietly continuing to sweat has captivated many sauna enthusiasts.

Editors' comment

There's no löyly or water-splashing performance here at all. You simply surrender to the dry heat of around 110°C created by METOS KERKES ceramic stones and wait for the sweat to come. It's a time to sit quietly while the sound of a television plays in the background. The cold plunge bath you sink into afterward is a continuous flow of natural Suruga water, filtered deep underground. It's medium-soft water with a hardness of 84, and despite being cold, it feels gentle against the skin. The water from the spout at the back can be drunk as is. On the day of research, reaching in for a drink revealed a surprising sweetness. The other herbal sauna is also a signature feature well worth experiencing.

SAUNA

SAUNA

An authentic sauna with a Harvia stove from Finland at its center. With self löyly, the rich steam gently envelops the room and warms you thoroughly from the core of your body. Through the large window in the sauna room, you can take in a panoramic view of the satoyama, creating a luxurious space where you can quietly face yourself in silence.

Cold bath03 Fukisarashi-yu
Cold plunge bath

Cold plunge bath

A luxurious cold plunge bath with a water depth of 110 cm, using skin-friendly soft water and deep enough to submerge your whole head. The mellow, refreshing texture of the water is irresistibly soothing, gently wrapping around the skin. In the deep tub, you can cool down your whole body all at once, and the breeze flowing above from the satoyama adds a profound sense of relaxation.

Editors' comment

The large window in the sauna room faces directly out onto the satoyama landscape. At its center sits a stove from Finland's Harvia, and with self-served löyly you can add steam to bring heat deep into the body. The cold plunge bath is 110cm deep, enough to submerge the whole head, and uses gentle, soft water. Standing up, you feel the breeze crossing the satoyama pass overhead. Exposed log-beam rafters, taken over from the now-closed Matsunoyu, run across the building's ceiling. Scenery, heat, and water all come together within this single structure.

Barrel Sauna

Barrel Sauna

A barrel-shaped sauna that gently wraps you in the warmth of wood. Its rounded, distinctive design allows the heat to circulate evenly throughout the room. The feeling of slowly warming from the core of your body is soothing, allowing you to spend a blissful moment.

Dry Sauna

Dry Sauna

A classic Finnish-style sauna. High-temperature, dry heat powerfully envelops the entire body and works up a good sweat. With the refreshing feeling unique to sauna, it is a space where you can deeply refresh both body and mind.

Private Sauna

Private Sauna

A reserved sauna space where you can enjoy your own time without worrying about anyone else’s eyes. You can freely set the temperature and your rest timing as you wish, and savor an exquisite totonou experience in a luxurious private environment.

Editors' comment

Barrel saunas line the courtyard. The rounded barrel-shaped ceiling distributes heat evenly throughout the interior, warming the body slowly from the core. Indoors, there's a classic dry sauna with high, dry heat. There's also a private sauna for exclusive use, where guests can decide the temperature and timing of breaks themselves. The cold plunge bath is conveniently close to both the courtyard barrel saunas and the dry sauna, allowing a quick step from sweat into cold water. Three different qualities of heat can be compared in a single day, cooling down in the same water after each. A thalasso pool using deep ocean water is also available.

Dry Sauna

Dry Sauna

An indoor dry sauna with a distinctive U-shaped seating layout. A gas-fired far-infrared stove emits uniform radiant heat that gently fills the whole room. The presence of a TV creates a relaxed atmosphere suited to longer stays, while the top-tier seat nicknamed Sauna King's Chair offers markedly stronger heat for advanced users. There is also a beginner-friendly position called the Considerate Chair, so users can choose their preferred intensity within the same space.

Herbal Steam Sauna

Herbal Steam Sauna

A herbal steam sauna filled with steam blended from more than 24 kinds of traditional medicinal herbs. The steam is dense enough to whiten the air, and you can feel the herbal components penetrating the skin across your body. In a tranquil space with healing music, you can sweat deeply and deliberately.

High-Temperature, High-Humidity Sauna

High-Temperature, High-Humidity Sauna

A unique setup that combines a high-temperature sauna with a steam sauna. Even at modest thermometer readings, humidity reaches over 70 percent, making the perceived temperature exceed 110°C and designating this as an advanced-user area. The compact four-person space fills with scorching steam, delivering an intense thermal pressure from the moment you enter.

Barrel Sauna

Barrel Sauna

A Siberian cedar barrel sauna sits in the outdoor area. An automatic löyly triggers every 12 minutes, delivering a 30-second heat wave into the room and causing the perceived temperature to spike with each cycle. The experience is so fierce it has earned the nickname Death Barrel, and use of a sauna mat is mandatory on entry. The rich aroma unique to Siberian cedar envelops the space, and each incoming heat wave immerses the body in overwhelming intense steam.

Editors' comment

In the outdoor Siberian cedar barrel sauna, auto-löyly strikes the room with a wave of heat every 12 minutes for 30 seconds. There are three cold plunge baths to choose from afterward. The huge indoor cold plunge bath, the outdoor cypress bath, and the barrel bath are all continuously flowing with Mt. Fuji's underground spring water — sinking into the cypress bath sends the water overflowing all at once before it quickly refills. It's cold without any harshness, and even after getting out, the pores stay cool for a long time. Chairs for outdoor relaxation line the open-air space. Including an herbal steam room and a high-temperature, high-humidity room, there are four types of saunas in total.

Self-löyly sauna

Self-löyly sauna

A dry sauna newly added to the large public bath in the December 2025 renewal. Available in both the men's and women's baths, it lets you enjoy self-löyly and build the heat yourself. Each time water is poured onto the heated stones, white steam rises softly, raising the humidity in the room and turning dry heat into gentler warmth. As you wait in the quiet, wood-lined space, sweat slowly begins to appear, and the heat reaches deep inside at an unhurried pace, much like the flow of satoyama time. It cannot be used from late at night until early morning, so it is best enjoyed as part of the flow of your bathing routine.

Cold plunge bath

Cold plunge bath

The large public bath has two kinds of cold plunge baths side by side, one at room temperature and one with a chiller. If you relax into the gentle coolness with no hard edges, the heat will ease away slowly without being rushed. On the other hand, the crisply chilled water soothes your flushed body in an instant the moment you sink in up to your shoulders, sharpening your senses all the way to your fingertips. Choose the level of coolness according to your condition and preference that day, then head to the open-air bath after getting out. The wind crossing the satoyama, the rustling trees, and the birdsong wrap around your damp skin and lead you into a quiet afterglow.

Barrel sauna

Barrel sauna

Self-löyly set, vihta, and aroma oils are provided, so you can customize your sauna session with your preferred humidity and fragrance. After the sauna, step into the river right in front of you and experience a wild totonou in the great outdoors.

Editors' comment

There are five sauna rooms, each with different materials and heat qualities. One room, modeled after a tea room, was selected for the Saunachelin list, its design carrying a quiet Japanese sensibility. The Tengu Sauna has walls entirely of cypress and uses a method that pours in hot spring water, resulting in high humidity. The Star Sauna uses Estonian thermowood, filling the room with a deep aroma. At the barrel sauna beside the Kano River, löyly, vihta, and aromas can be used freely, and guests can step straight into the river before outdoor relaxation. All the cold plunge baths use natural river water from Izu. This is a cultural heritage inn, and use is limited to overnight guests.

Smoke sauna

Smoke sauna

A smoke sauna installed in each of the men’s and women’s public baths. Inside the wood-lined room, a faintly smoky, aromatic fragrance lingers, and from the moment the door closes, the sense of the outside world fades away. Equipped with auto löyly, it delivers a soft, rounded heat that slowly seeps deep into the body.

Steam sauna

Steam sauna

A steam sauna attached to the women’s public bath. Fine steam fills the room in white, gently enveloping the skin while slowly bringing heat to the body’s core. With mild warmth that does not feel stifling, you can remain in it for a long time without worrying about your hair or skin drying out. As sweat softly begins to bead on the surface, tension gradually eases away.

Dry sauna

Dry sauna

A dry sauna attached to the men’s public bath. The dry heat reaches the skin directly, and as you sit upright, sweat begins to pour out without end. There are no unnecessary sounds in the quiet, wood-lined room, leaving only your own breathing. At this inn far removed from daily life, it is a time to focus solely on facing the heat.

Editors' comment

What sets this inn's sauna apart from others is that smoke saunas are installed in both the men's and women's large baths. Inside, wrapped in wood, a faint smoky aroma lingers, and auto-löyly delivers rounded heat deep into the body over time. A dry sauna sits on the men's side and a steam sauna on the women's side, letting guests choose the type of heat depending on how they feel that day. The cold plunge bath sits right next to the sauna. Rather than a sharp cold, it's a temperature that gently tightens the skin, and stepping out to the open-air area lets guests release the lingering heat in the sea breeze off Sagami Bay.

Sauna (Daichi)

A calm, softly lit sauna room with a staircase-like design in the streamlined, refined Daichi area. Automatic löyly is performed at regular intervals, filling the serene space with pleasant steam and allowing you to warm deeply from the core. Beyond the window, there is an outdoor air bath area facing the garden, where you can leave the sauna room and enjoy a deeply relaxing time while gazing at the beautiful greenery.

Sauna (Sora)

Sauna (Sora)

A unique gourd-shaped sauna room in the curved, modern Sora area. Surrounded by the gentle feel and aroma of wood, the soft heat created by automatic löyly wraps comfortably around your whole body. After the sauna, you can experience totonou deeply in both body and mind while feeling the greenery swaying in the breeze in the outdoor air bath area surrounded by the beautiful garden.

Editors' comment

There are two sauna room designs. Daichi, built with straight lines, has a staircase-like structure with dimmed lighting, while Sora, drawn in curves, is gourd-shaped and wrapped in the scent of wood. Both feature auto-löyly that releases steam at regular intervals, and the cold plunge bath sits right next to the sauna room. Stepping outside leads to an outdoor relaxation area facing the garden, where greenery swaying in the wind fills the view. Since the men's and women's areas alternate daily, visiting twice is needed to experience both rooms. The inn also has hot springs drawing amber-colored mineral-rich water.
